Who Am I?
TANYA HUNTER, LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER HERE TO GUIDE YOU
Imagine waking up every morning feeling you are the person you were meant to be? How great does that feel? In 1997, I began my undergraduate studies at Cornell University. I majored in Industrial and Labor Relations with every intention of going to law school to become a labor lawyer.
Upon graduation, I had an epiphany that I wanted to help people with the essence of who they are. I wanted to listen to the fragments of people's journeys and help them make a kaleidoscope of the pieces. So after two years of non-profit work in New York City, I enrolled in New York University's School of Social Work and graduated in 2005.
I have had an illustrious career both in New Jersey and Georgia that has included therapeutic foster care, substance abuse rehab, family therapy, medical social work, child protection, managed care case management, and working in the jail system.
My experiences have led me to open the doors to Sojourn Therapy and Wellness Center. A sojourn is a temporary stay in a place that is different from your norm. Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional therapist offering refuge to help you find your inner strength can make life a little better. I care about your well-being and provide you all the tools you need in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances.
I am now also adding life coaching to my services. My spiritual journey thus far has led me to a radical shift that I want to share with others.
